Mercyhealth System Wide Infection Prevention
The RN Infection Prevention and Control manages the infection prevention program for the health system in conjunction with the Infection Prevention & Control Committee and the Infectious Disease Practitioner. The position is trained in epidemiology principles and is responsible for the prevention, surveillance, interpretation, analysis and reporting of healthcare acquired infections; educating employees, patients and visitors about infection control; and the development of policies and procedures to ensure infection control standards that meet The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, state and local public health department and Centers for Disease Control requirements. Other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or upon hire BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN Completion Program. If hired prior to 1-1-17 in Winnebago County and 9-1-15 in Rock, Walworth or McHenry County an ADN is required. May required specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines)
Licensed as an RN in WI and IL
APIC Basic Training in infection control within 1 year
Certification in Infection Control preferred; required within 4 years of hire
